Wassy Bats Workshop

You're invited to a hands-on workshop where you'll create your own Carnival costume inspired by the iconic bats of Trinidad Carnival – a symbol of creativity, freedom, and expression.

"Wassy" is Trinidadian slang for something or someone impressive, exciting, and hyperactive. Carnivals are not merely festivities; they serve as tools for social commentary and symbolic, performative public discourse. In this workshop, you'll learn various techniques to craft your own "wassy" bat using paper, cardboard, fabric, and other found materials. Feel free to bring extra materials to adorn your costume.

Join the Wassy Bats Procession, where you can showcase your costume and celebrate alongside fellow revelers through dance and performance.
